Tax Refunds on Stored Value Cards
TurboTax (Intuit) and Rush Card (UniRush Financial Services) have announced an alliance that tax filers using TurboTax for the Web to receive their refunds in as little as 10 days and deposited either into a checking account or to a prepaid Rush Visa card.
The Rush Visa Card looks like a credit card and acts like a debit card but does a whole lot more. With refunds averaging $900, young tax filers can deposit their refund to a Rush Card to help pay for college tuition, to invest in savings, pay bills at their convenience, purchase goods on and offline, and eliminate check-cashing fees."On average, nine out of ten taxpayers between ages 18 and 24 can expect a refund this tax season which can be put towards college, savings, or personal use," said Russell Simmons, CEO Rush Communications. "The reality is that a number of young adults either do not have bank accounts, or are at risk of falling into credit card debt. Through this alliance, we are offering them, along with our existing base of nearly half a million cardholders, the opportunity to e-file their tax returns and receive their refunds via direct deposit onto the Rush card, with the security of a payment card they can use without incurring debt."
