UK Ecommerce Sales Surge
Visa EU has announced that first quarter 2004 ecommerce sales in the UK surged up 123 percent over the same period in the prior year.
The research comes as Visa prepares for the launch to consumers of an easy password protection system called Verified by Visa – an online authentication system that guarantees** cardholder identity when shopping online and is estimated to reduce the number of disputed online transactions by up to 80%.Hugo Bottelier, Vice President of Visa EU, said: "As cardholders expand their retail horizons, it is important that the banks create a secure environment for them to use their payment cards. Initiatives such as Verified by Visa help to make the online environment as safe and secure as shopping in the high street."
