PassMark Security Introduces Anti-Phishing Approach
PassMark Security has introduced new countermeasures to enable enterprises to prevent phishing attacks on their Internet users.
Bill Harris, former CEO of Intuit and PayPal, is founder and chairman of PassMark Security. "Phishing is a mass attack against millions of unsuspecting customers, so the solution has to be extremely simple for all Internet users to understand and use," said Harris. PassMarks require no software or hardware to be installed on the user's computer, and are extremely easy -- even fun -- for consumers to learn and use."PassMarks are easy to remember," said Harris. "A Web site can automatically assign a PassMark to each user from a vast library of standard images, or the user can select or upload his own. I use a picture of my son. Research indicates that users remember their PassMarks after logging in just once or twice. People are visual -- they forget names, but remember faces."
"PassMarks are a brilliantly simple solution to many of today's challenges such as the phishing crisis," said Dr. Taher Elgamal, who is co-chairman and chief technology officer at Securify and generally known as a "founding father" of Internet security. "Hardening your web servers will not deter attacks against the customer such as phishing. PassMarks -- because they are a customer-focused solution -- are a clever and effective way to combat this increasingly prevalent problem."
