Boardman Named Visa International Interim CEO
Visa International board chairman William P. Boardman has also been named Interim CEO of Visa International. Boardman replaces retiring CEO Malcolm Williamson on an interim basis until a new CEO is appointed.
Boardman has been the Chairman of the Visa International Board of Directors since June 1999, a post he will continue to hold. He retired as Vice Chairman and Director of Chicago-based Bank One in March 2001. A strong advocate of the Visa brand, he began serving as a director of the Visa International Board in October 1997, and on the Visa U.S.A. Board of Directors in May 1995.Williamson has been CEO of Visa International since October 1998, and successfully managed the global payments organization as it doubled in size. "We are very grateful to Malcolm for his excellent leadership of the past five years," said Boardman. "We wish him all the best as he returns to the UK, and thank him for leaving Visa a strong, focused, and vital organization."
Boardman stated that the search for a permanent president and CEO is progressing well and that an announcement will be made at the completion of the process.
