BitPass Launches Digital Music Site
Micropayment provider BitPass has announced the beta launch of Mperia, a new online music store for independent musicians.
"Mperia revolutionizes the music industry by re-orienting musicians and fans around the quality of individual songs," said Ryan Marth, a Las Vegas-based musician and songwriter who uses BitPass to sell experimental music from his site Big Friendly Corporation."When I complete a great track, I can release and sell it immediately without having to bundle it for traditional distribution. I also make more money from one song on Mperia than I would from an entire album with a traditional recording contract. Mperia is the place where I want my music to be."
Mperia provides fans of independent music a convenient way to find lesser-known acts in their local area; preview, rate and buy their music; learn about performances, and build online and offline relationships with others that share their musical affinity.
"Independent acts today sell entire albums from their own web sites or go through a subjective review with a record label to gain distribution," said Kurt Huang, president and CEO of BitPass. "Mperia signifies BitPass' mission to fuel online diversity by turning the music industry establishment on its head and providing a flexible environment in which artists can thrive and fans can support them."
