In an article titled 'Economy Fitful, Americans Start to Pay as They Go', Peter Goodman writes for the New York Times about how many consumers are entering 'a period of involuntary thrift'. Goodman writes: 'The shift under way feels to some analysts like a cultural inflection point, one with huge implications for an economy driven overwhelmingly by consumer spending.'
Accertify and iovation have announced a partnership to help online merchants fight credit card fraud. Accertify will offer iovation's ReputationManager, a real-time device-based fraud management service, as a part of its Interceptas solution. Accertify says that "Interceptas is the first integrated platform designed from the merchant’s perspective for combating card-not-present fraud, enabling the complete fraud prevention process to be managed with one comprehensive and highly flexible solution." » Continue Reading
Fifth Third Processing Solutions and Revolution Money have announced an agreement under which the RevolutionCard can be accepted by Fifth Third Processing Solutions' merchant customers across the United States, through Fifth Third's Jeanie network. » Continue Reading
Memento has introduced a solution to address the escalating Automated Clearing House (ACH) fraud problem. The company says that "through proactive monitoring and detection, Memento Security, the company’s flagship platform, quickly identifies fraudulent activities that include identity fraud, kiting, reverse phishing, insider fraud and counterfeiting."
Separately, Memento announced that Shirley Inscoe and Mike Mulholand have joined the company. Inscoe, former Senior Vice President of Enterprise Payments Strategy at Wachovia, will be Memento’s Director of Financial Services Solutions. Mulholand, former Vision Risk Product Marketing Manager at banking and payments technology provider Metavante, has been named Director of Fraud Solutions Strategy. » Continue Reading
CheckFree (now part of Fiserv) has announced a new remote deposit capture product that allows retail customers to electronically scan and deposit checks from any location with a PC, a scanner and an Internet connection. According to CheckFree, "it provides simple, easy-to-use functionality for the consumer without compromising the security, fraud identification or processing quality required by financial institutions." » Continue Reading
Visa and Singapore Post Limited (SingPost) have announced that they will support the Visa Money Transfer remittance service from 51 designated post offices in Singapore enabling the transfer of money to to Visa cardholders in Australia, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand and the United Kingdom. This is the first time Visa Money Transfer has been made available through a postal service provider. » Continue Reading
